A Medical Laboratory Technician assists Medical Laboratory Technologists and Pathologists to conduct various diagnostics tests to identify possible causes of diseases and ailments or to conduct various tests for monitoring health conditions of patients or other individuals.


Career Track By Pathway 1

Class 10 with any subjects, Science and Mathematics – Class 11-12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology – Certificate / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician or in Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) or a similar field.



After completing class 12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, you may apply for a Certificate / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician or in Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) or a similar field.


Career Track By Pathway 2

Class 10 with any subjects, Science and Mathematics – Class 11-12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology – Obtain an NSQF Level 3 Qualification in Phlebotomy – 3 years of experience as a Phlebotomist – Obtain an NSQF Level 4 Qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.



After completing class 12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, you can obtain an NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework) Level 3 Qualification in Phlebotomy and then obtain minimum 3 years of work experience as a Phlebotomist. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and preparing blood samples for laboratory testing. Then after work experience, you may obtain an NSQF Level 4 Qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.


Career Track By Pathway 3

Class 10 with any subjects, Science and Mathematics – Class 11-12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology – Obtain an NSQF Level 4 Qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.



After completing Class 12 in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, you may obtain an NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework) Level 4 Qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.
